Meet the Committee Members

Simon Chalmers

Chair

Si is the founder and chair of the St Cyrus Solos Running Club.

Si started running to raise money for charity and lose some weight, but very much caught the bug.

Carina Ray

Merchandise Co-ordinator

I joined Solos in October 2019 after being encouraged by my neighbour, Kenny. It took a bit of persuading as I thought I would hold everyone up but very quickly learned the motto of "no one is left behind" is a core part of the club.

With weekly homework's being set by the run leads during lockdown, I wanted to try completing a marathon. It ended up being a virtual effort from Montrose to Johnshaven with Kenny and some other solos providing lots of support and encouragement either on the run or as a roving cheer squad.

And even better - the social events are just as much fun as the running.

Debbie Wilkinson

Welfare Officer/Membership Co-ordinator

Debbie joined St Cyrus Solos in November 2017 after running her first half marathon a few months earlier.

Debbie is the club's welfare officer and she also deals with the club merchandise.

Gareth Archer

Committee Member

I joined solos around 2021 and have really enjoyed the variety of training sessions and the friendly community that is at the core of the Solos ethos.

I enjoy the challenge of being a run leader and always look forward to seeing other Solos at various events around the country.

Hannah McGregor

Secretary

I first took up running when I was an officer in the navy, not only for fitness but for a chance to destress and explore different countries. Fast forward 10 years and after having 2 kids I got back running again more regularly, I completed the Edinburgh half marathon in 2022 and then very soon after I joined the Solo's. Running with others is a lot more fun and the 2 runs a week with the Solo's definitely helps me keep on top of my training and fitness.

Vicki Findlater

Club Treasurer/10k co Race Director

Vicki joined the St Cyrus Solos in May 2018 starting on their Couch to 5k (C25k) plan. The graduation was running the local Montrose parkrun, which she completed in 36:41. Fast forward to July 2021 and Vicki's new 5k personal best is 27:23.

Through support and encouragement from fellow Solo's, Vicki is now running 10k distances regularly and fits in weekly runs around her work and family.
